The CX4 Viewer is an ActiveX control. ActiveX is an add on to Internet Explorer that allows for the dynamic web content that CX4 provides the user. In some cases, your computer may be configured to block ActiveX from running. There are many settings that must be configured to allow CX4 to run smoothly on your machine. When they are not, you may receive notifications to download the Viewer each time you access the page, even after finishing the installation process correctly (Message Below). I will run through these settings and provide screenshots for you to check them yourself. Remember, always contact an IT professional if you are unsure if a setting should be changed on your machine. If you run into any issues, call our support desk at 1-724-933-7878.
Step 1: Access internet Explorer Tools
Step 2: Once we access tools, the simplest issue is usually ActiveX Filtering. This is found in the safety section of the IE Tools. This should be Unchecked.
Step 3: You will want to Refresh the page to see if you still receive the message to install the viewer. If you do not, please log in. If you are still receiving the message, move on to step 4.
Step 4: Another Internet Explorer tool that can inhibit ActiveX is the Smartscreen Filter. We will want to turn this off. You will want the message below to say "Turn On Smartscreen Filter". If it says "Turn Off Smartscreen Filter" We will want to change this setting.
Step 5: It is also helpful to turn off Popup Blocker at this time. It can also block CX4 from opening.
Step 6: Try to log in to the system once more. If you are still unable to log in, please contact our support desk by submitting a ticket, sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, or calling 1-724-933-7878.
